KU is now the 2008 NCAA National Champion!!
I am so PUMPED about this. Rock Chalk Jayhawk baby!! I remember thinking the whole year that this should be our year... but that isn't the first time I have thought that. So I came into the championship game with that remembrance of disappointment in the back of my mind. And with a little over two minutes left in the game I was so afraid that we as fans were going to be disappointed yet again...
And then it happened; things started to go right. Memphis missed a foul shot or two, Collins came up with a HUGE steal and three pointer. Then sensational Memphis freshman Rose missed his first foul shot with just over 10 seconds left in the game so I knew we would have a chance to tie even if he made the second one (which he did).
This whole time my buddy that I was watching the game with and I knew that if we could just get into OT that this game was KU's. Then the magic happened... Collins raced down the floor and appears to lose control of the ball (nooooooo!!!), wait no, he has it back, pass to Chalmers, shot...
The ball is in the air for what seems like years and I am thinking please, please just let this go in. It seems like these shots don't go in for KU and this is in the back of my mind as I anxiously wait for fate to happen... IT GOES IN!! Nothing but net! For the next 30 seconds I'm not sure if I could tell you what happened, but one thing was for sure: KU was going to win, and they did.

Go Kansas Jayhawks! Final Four Day
Well, today is the big day. The Final Four is upon us and I don't know about you, but I am very excited. But, along with my excitement I am also very nervous.
See, I am a HUGE KU fan and I just really want to see them do well. The last championship was in 1988 and I was alive then, but I was so young I don't remember much about it besides what I have heard since then. Danny and the Miracles, I hear about them all the time and have seen numerous highlights from that 1988 NCAA Tournament. Now, I want to see highlights from the 2008 Kansas Jayhawks and be able to say, " I saw that live, it was so awesome!"
This would be the first time any of 'my' teams would have won the championship in my time. Sure, the Royals won the World Series in 1985, but that was the year after I was born, and then there is the Kansas City Chiefs... (sigh...) well... we seem like we are starting to go in the right direction once again.
I really want KU to beat North Carolina today. In my opinion we should. They always say that in the NCAA tourney it comes down to guard play, and I feel we have the best guard rotation. KU is also the better defensive team (last time I check KU was actually #1 in Offensive and Defensive Efficiency). Carolina is a very good team though, and they have the star power with "Mr. All-Everything" Tyler Hansbrough. He will get his points regardless, but KU is usually pretty good about not letting the other teams best player get an open look.
I think that if KU can be smart with the basketball and not give UNC easy points then they should win this game. They are the balanced team.
Well, with that rant out of the way I would just like to say "GO KU!" I will still be a fan regardless of what happens tonight, but please allow me to wear my newly purchased Final Four shirt again with pride.
